How to create Hot Potatoes exercises

If you want to practise the Task Based Learning, you can use an approach using internet. It's a very useful tool!
If you want to create Hot Potatoes activities, first you have to download the software.

Here you have a tutorial explainning how to do each activity.

 JCROSS, the crossword maker

1 Open the program and ...
2 click on the Manage Grid button and select the Automatic Grid-Maker button, then ...
3 you will be taken to the section where you input your answers, each on a separate line...

4 now type in your title and then click on the Add Clues button:
You will be presented with a screen to input your clues

JBC, the multiple choice exercise maker

1Open the program and ...
2type in your title, then ...
3your first question, and ...
4some choices of answers (You can have as many choices as you like, but realistically I would not advise you to use many more than five).
5Make sure you select a correct answer by clicking in the little box next to the letter.
6You can, if you wish, put your own feedback into the feedback section. If you leave this blank, it will default to "Correct!" or "Sorry! Try again."

JCloze, the gap-fill exercise maker.

1Open the program and ...
2type in your title, then ...
3the text or questions you want to gap, and ...
4finally highlight the items you want to gap and click on the gap button
5You can type in a clue for your students, but they will lose points if they click on the clue button next to the gap.
You can also type in alternate correct answers (as many as you like). Click OK when done.

That is all there is to do!

JQuiz, the short answer exercise maker.
1Open the program and ...
2type in your title, then ...
3your first question, and ...
4all the answers that are correct. You can have as many correct answers as you like. It is best to keep the answers simple as the program will only accept exact answers from your students.
